Our story

What began as a school fundraiser became a winter tradition.

Burns Park Players began in 1984, when a group of parents staged a show to help send Burns Park Elementary sixth-graders to camp. The idea caught on—and the Players grew into an active community theater company.

Each winter, adults from the Burns Park school community produce a full musical alongside elementary-school children in grades 1–5. Membership is open to adults who live in the Burns Park Elementary community, parents of children who attend the school, or school employees. No experience is required, on stage or off.

Burns Park Players has been a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 1997. Every production is a fundraiser, with proceeds supporting music and arts programs across Ann Arbor Public Schools.
